Easingwold International Festival 2025
On the 13th September Balbir Singh Dance Company was delighted to take part in Easingwold International Festival, at Easingwold Library, celebrating culture and the stories that bind them together. Using dance and live music across 2 different performances, we took our audience on a journey through Indian culture, exploring touchstones such as spices and the Ramayana.

It was great to see so many people thoroughly enjoying the music and dance, and cross-cultural exchange.
I am ashamed to say I knew little about Insian dance despite having a friend who specializes in it — we have just never discussed it. But the Balbir Singh Dance Company changed that! I learned that they have cheeky songs that help them remember many of the spices they use, which really puts a personality into the spices. Also that they match syllables to notes in a way I had never heard of. The dancing was really evocative, conjuring up the spirit of the Ganges and all sorts of wild animals, all in the initiate [sic] setting of the library.
