JVL Inspire to Inspire

On the 10th September, as part of World Suicide Prevention Day, Balbir Singh Dance Company performed at Inspire to Inspire, a local exhibition celebrating the life, works and legacy of Joshua Van Leader. In the afternoon, through dance, music and storytelling, we responded to the various artworks within the gallery, highlighting how art and nature can be a creative force for good, and can inspire understanding when it comes to our health.

Documenting the Passing of the Baton of Hope

As part of World Suicide Prevention Day, the early afternoon at the Gallery saw the passing of the Baton of Hope, the first time it has come through Leeds. In anticipation of our activity at the gallery later that day, we observed and captured the moment.

Responding and performing to Joshua’s Artwork

Our session in the afternoon saw Bobak and Sanchita responding to some of Joshua’s artwork, through dance, music and through storytelling. We held conversations over health and the exhibit, and talked about our experiences.

Another Perspective

On the 20th September we returned to the gallery, this time with dancer Manuela Benini, where we responded and interacted with Joshua’s artwork and the themes of the exhibition with Manuela’s interpretation.
