Life Class



In 2025, Balbir Singh was brought on as the movement director for Life Class, a new project by 509 Arts which centres around the varying narratives of ageing. Growing old is a journey that takes a life time, it can be a surprise to find that your body has changed in so many ways while you still feel the same inside. Life Class is a joyful and sometimes serious look at the ageing body and the changes that happen to us as we age.

The Show Goes Live



After being involved with the rehearsals and shaping of the production through the month of September, we photographed and captured the final dress rehearsals. On 3 October 2025, the performance went live in a numer of sold-out shows across 8 different dates, finishing its run on 12 October 2025.







CUPPA T - Conversation Panels



Taking place on the set of Life Class, the CUPPA T Conversations featured members of the production talking about any insights they had gained about working with (or as) older artists. As well as having a sit-in audience in front of the panel, the conversations were also broadcast live on 

Balbir, who served as Movement Director on the production, took part as a member of both panels, sharing his insights from this project, as well as from the wider BSDC repertoire, into how we can age creatively.
