Men in Bloom

As part of the Northern Man Festival 2025, Balbir Singh Dance Company (BSDC) proudly participated in the Northern Man's Festival Extravaganza at Leeds Kirkgate Market on 13th June, organised by Space2. BSDC presented Men in Bloom, a striking photography exhibition designed to raise awareness around men's physical and mental health.

The project featured portraits of men holding bouquets of flowers—symbolising strength, care, and vulnerability—and included market traders as well as participants from the festival itself. By capturing these moments, BSDC aimed to spark conversations about wellbeing and challenge traditional perceptions of masculinity. This collaboration reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to creative projects that engage communities, promote health, and celebrate diverse expressions of identity.

2025 to 2026

Northern Man Festival

The Northern Man Festival was a celebration of the shared work and interconnectivity that has been achieved in the past few years in Leeds. The festival aimed to highlight the range of wonderful creative, fun, and important activities and events that are run by organisations who are part of the Men’s Health Unlocked network. Northern Man Festival was coordinated by Space2 and Men’s Health Unlocked, the Leeds-based network for anyone supporting men’s health and wellbeing in Leeds. The festival coincided with Men’s Health Week which is recognised nationally and takes place in the second week of June.
