NSCD Conference 2026 - Better Together

On 7 January 2026, as part of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s 2026 Conference, Better Together - Rethinking Practice Through Partnership, Balbir Singh Dance Company and St Thomas’ Hospital INPUT Centre for Pain Management co-delivered a lecture demonstration on Creative Approaches to Persistent Pain Management.

2025 to 2026

The conference proved to be a busy day with many familiar faces. Alongside Catherine Flower, a Specialist Occupational Therapist from INPUT Pain Management, Balbir and company artists delivered insights into how we can use our creativity to help mitigate and manage some of the challenges that come from living with chronic pain.

The lecture consisted of dance (drawing upon our currently in-development piece The Washing Line) from Kali, Devika, Sanchita and Madhura, music from John Ball and Adam Strickson, and poetry from Unmasking Pain participant Hilary Stout.
