Engaging with the Thackray Museum

BSDC, alongside other creative organisations, recently partnered with the Thackray Museum of Medicine for the Celebration of East Leeds event, transforming museum spaces and exhibitions into immersive environments. In a celebration of East Leeds communities, we used the museum’s medical exhibits as a unique backdrop for performances, workshops, and interactive activities, allowing visitors to engage with health topics in a deeply personal and artistic way. Our approach offered visitors a new perspective on health and the body, transforming the museum into a vibrant hub of movement, self-expression, and community connection. This collaboration with the Thackray Museum of Medicine is part of our broader vision for transforming museums into intersections of art, health, and community engagement through the enriching lens of creative expression.
