John Ball

John Ball is a highly skilled performer and educator in North Indian Hindustani music, specialising in tabla and the 100-stringed santoor. With over two decades of training under renowned maestros such as Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Pandit Yogesh Samsi, and Ustad Harjinderpal Singh, John has cultivated a deep expertise in both traditional performance and contemporary collaboration. As World Music Performer in Residence at the University of Sheffield, he is known for his commitment to music education, regularly delivering workshops across schools, universities, and communities. His diverse musical collaborations span genres including jazz, folk, West African, and classical, and he is a frequent collaborator with Balbir Singh Dance Company.
